What's Happening (2006, 2007, 2008...)
As of September 2009, I am back in Paris.
In the spring of 2010 I will teach a
graduate course (M2 level)
"Analyse fonctionnelle et géométrie de
la théorie quantique de l'information"
During 2009-10, I will co-organize this
MFO workshop and this conference
Starting with the fall of 2006, I have been away at
Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A., but I returned
periodically,
for example...
In August 2006 I took part in the International Congress of Mathematicians in Madrid, Spain. Here are the slides from my lecture on Convexity, Complexity, and High Dimensions.
In Spring-Summer 2006 I was involved in the trimester on Phenomena in High Dimensions at
Institut Henri Poincare

My Research Interests
My primary field is Functional Analysis, more specifically Geometry of Banach Spaces,
Convexity and, particularly, their combinatorial and probabilistic aspects.
I am also interested in those aspects of other fields such as, e.g.,
Operator Theory, Approximation Theory, Mathematical Physics, Computer Science
or Operation Research that appeal to convexity and/or exhibit probabilistic or
geometric flavor (including, but not limited to, Random Matrices and
Quantum Information Theory).
Have a nice problem that could fit there? Drop me a line at

Other Interests
Other than that, I like travel, sailing
(Navigare Necesse Est),
diving, skiing, tennis, table tennis, bridge ...
And here are my daughters,
Martina
and Natalie
(as seen by an Ukrainian artist in Kraków in 1997)
and
Emily (testing a certain body of water in 2005).
