The long-term goal of the Grothendieck Circle is to make publicly available (and in some cases translate) published and unpublished material written by (and about) Alexandre Grothendieck, as well as to provide biographical material on Grothendieck's life and his origins. Since many of these texts are unpublished or are out of print, we hope that this site will serve as a valuable resource, expanding over time.

Recent news and additions to the site:

A memoir in Portuguese by Alberto de Azevedo recalling Grothendieck's time in São Paulo in 1952-1954 (Biographical Texts).

An audio recording made some years ago, of Luc Illusie reminiscing (in English) about his experiences with Grothendieck (Biographical Texts).

Three old photos of the Camp du Vernet, and three photos of the Vernet cemetery as it is today, courtesy of Alexander Rahm (Biographical Texts).

Upcoming publications

Pursuing Stacks together with Grothendieck's letters to Ronnie Brown, Tim Porter, Hans Baues and others, is expected to appear as a publication in two volumes within the next year, edited by G. Maltsiniotis, M. Künzer and B. Toen, and published in the series Documents Mathématiques by the SMF.

Grothendieck's letters to David Mumford, edited by C-L. Chai, A. Neeman and T. Shiota, will be published in the forthcoming second volume of Mumford's collected papers.
